The more that you know about fragrance houses and fine fragrance and everything that encompasses the topic of perfumery, the better able you are going to be to choose the perfumes and the fragrances that best meet your personal needs, tastes and styles. Here are some more frequently asked questions about the use of fine fragrance, giving you a basic foundation through which you can develop an understanding of perfumery and the perfume trade.
How should I apply my fragrance, and where on my body should it be applied for the best results?
Your fragrance should be applied to your pulse points. These are the points on your body where the blood vessels are the closest to your skin, which means that more heat is being given off, and it makes your pulse points act as if they are miniature pumps for your fragrance. Your pulse points can be found on your wrists, behind your ears, in the crook of each arm and each need, and at the base of your throat. Additionally, if you are looking to achieve a longer lasting fragrance, then it would be useful for you to spray some at your ankles, which will allow the fragrance to climb throughout the day. Spraying a little in your hair and in your clothing is another way to achieve a longer lasting scent.
Does high quality perfume from a fragrance house require any special handling in order to keep it in good condition?
You should keep your special fragrances away from any excessive changes in temperature, including excessive cold and heat. In order to avoid any evaporation, you are going to want to make sure that the lid is closed tightly so that the integrity of the fragrance can be maintained. Also, you are going to want to keep your fragrances away from windows and sunlight, as they can throw the composition of the fragrance off balance, altering the scent.
Are there any other ways that I can use a fragrance, other than simply to apply it to my body?
There are a few different ways that you can utilize fragrance aside from simply applying it on your body. For example, you can put just a few drops of your favorite fragrance in your bathwater for a little aroma therapy. Another example is to put a few drops of your favorite fragrance in the water when you are washing your lingerie. You can also spray artificial flowers with your favorite perfume in order to scent a room.
How long will my fragrance keep if I keep it stored?
Fragrances simply do not last forever. There are a number of precautions that you can take, however, to ensure that the integrity of the fragrance is maintained. You should keep the bottle in a dark and dry place, for example. You also want to keep the bottle away from any extreme temperatures as well as out of the sunlight. Most fragrances can last around 3 years from the date of manufacture if they are properly cared for.
